Vanessa Rousso
Vanessa Rousso, nicknamed "Lady Maverick", is a picture of poker playing skill, beauty and intelligence. She graduated with honors from Duke University and studies Law at the University of Miami between poker tournaments.
Rousso started playing the game of poker when she was just five years old. As she grew, she continued to improve her skills and abilities and now is a feared player. Her first success that gained recognition came when she became the youngest woman to achieve a final table at a World Series of Poker circuit event. She also started having success in World Poker Tour events.
Her largest exposure to many poker players and fans alike was during the 2006 World Poker Tour Championship. Rousso had played a stellar tournament and just missed the final table when she suffered a bad beat, knocking her out of the tournament in seventh place. It still wasn't a bad payday for her, coming in at over $260,000. Vanessa earned the biggest cash of her career so far when she came second in the main event at the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker in October 2007. The result was worth $700,782, helping to take Vanessa’s total tournament earnings to well over $1,500,000.
Vanessa, who has dual citizenship in the United States and France, is originally from White Plains New York. She is fluent in three languages, enjoys aviation and sky diving and studies game theory in her spare time.
