Team PokerStars Pro - Raymond Rahme

Raymond Rahme
Raymond Rahme’s story defines some of the greatest things about poker. A business-owner, father, and husband until he was in his sixties, Rahme had never bothered to learn Texas Hold’em, preferring seven-card stud. That game – and a little golf here and there - were all he needed to satisfy his competitive spirit. Even after the Texas Hold’em revolution began and the explosion of online poker in the early part of the 21st century, Rahme didn’t learn to play Hold’em until 2005.
But hold'em quickly became Rahme's favorite game, and for good reason. Whether it was a natural skill or his experience in seven-card stud, Rahme soon discovered his hold'em abilities were good enough to cancel all plans at starting another business in the second half of his life. He cashed in the All Africa Poker Tournament and headed for the 2007 World Series. It was at the world's biggest tournament that he had a feeling something big was about to happen. A couple of weeks later, he was sitting at the final table of the World Series' Main Event.
Rahme may not have realized it at that second, but he had just made history. He was the first person from the entire continent of Africa to make the Main Event final table in the history of the World Series.Suddenly, the man who had only been playing the game for a couple of years was a poker millionaire.Rahme finished in third place and earned an astounding $3,048,025. After honing his game on PokerStars, it was only natural the South African poker player would join the ranks of some of the most elite players in the world on Team PokerStars. Now, he’ll continue his new “hobby” of playing online and working to make another big splash in the live tournament world. He also recently earned $125,000 for winning the All Africa Poker Tournament, proving that his World Series success was far from a fluke.
Raymond Rahme can be found playing at PokerStars under the name 'Ray Rahme'.
