John Duthie
Creator of the European Poker Tour
John Duthie has been a high stakes poker player for many years and has been a driving factor in the growing popularity of poker in the UK. In addition, he is a successful director of many UK primetime serial dramas, such as 'Clocking Off', which is a BAFTA award winning series, 'Silent Witness' and 'As If'. Duthie's biggest win at the poker tables came when he won one million pounds in the 2000 Poker Million live on television. This was the first televised win of over $1 million.
In 2004, John launched the televised European Poker Tour, using his knowledge of poker and TV production to team up with PokerStars to found this great tournament series. The EPT has developed into Europe's richest and most prestigious poker tournament circuit, and is now broadcast to over 40 countries around the world.
Like most poker tournaments recently, the European Poker Tour is widely popular. Annual locations for some of the tournaments include the Grand Casino Baden in Austria, the Casino Barcelona in Spain, Merrion Casino Club in Ireland, Victoria Casino in London, Deauville Casino in France, Casino Copenhagen in Denmark, and the finale at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel and Resort in Monaco.
In addition to his large payday in the 2000 Poker Million, John has had success in many large poker tournaments. Here is a list of some of his other notable finishes.

- Nineteenth place - 2004 World Series of Poker, Limit Texas Hold'em
- Twenty-third place - 2005 World Series of Poker, Short Handed Texas Holdem

- Twenty-first place - 2006 Borgota Winter Open, No Limit Texas Hold'em
In recent news, Duthie was hired to coach the actors for the latest James bond movie, Casino Royale. The actors included star Daniel Craig. Duthie is married with two sons. He lives with his family in London.
