Dario Minieri

Dario Minieri is one of Italy’s finest poker players. As a former champion of Magic: The Gathering Dario spent his formative years travelling the Magic circuit. He played in countries all around the world and this valuable experience allowed him to develop his skills in taking part in competitive events. He was introduced to PokerStars by a friend, and his competitive nature and experience soon helped him achieve success.

Dario has often claimed the most important win of his career came when he entered a $10 rebuy tournament and won $12,000. It was this event that made him realize that he wanted to make the transition from poker enthusiast to professional poker player. And since then he has never looked back.

Dario’s commitment to Internet poker enabled him to build up enough Frequent Player Points online to buy himself a Porsche, making him the first person in PokerStars history to do this. Dario has achieved some impressive online successes, including earning $155,000 in one single day in December 2007 in four different PokerStars tournaments.

Dario is also a major figure on the live circuit. He cashed in his first Word Series Main Event in 2006, and the following year he took a respectable 96th place at the same event, winning $67,353. But Dario’s biggest WSOP* win came in 2008 when he fought his way through more than 1,000 players to claim his first bracelet and $528,418 in a $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em Six-Handed event. Elsewhere Dario has also found success on the European Poker Tour. He placed 22nd at the Season 2 Grand Final for $20,235, before makng the final table in Season 3 at Baden, finishing in 3rd place for $159,763. Another 3rd place finish followed in Season 5’s Warsaw event for $155,184, but his best EPT result came when he finished in the top 3 at the 2008 San Remo €5,000 No Limit Hold’em event for $451,532.

In his spare time away from the tables Dario enjoys watching movies and getting out and about in his Porsche, and he is currently busy working towards enough Frequent Player Points to add an Aston Martin to his collection. Dario is a member of Team PokerStars Pro and can be found online under the screen name ‘Dariominieri’.
