Daniel Negreanu

Canadian poker legend Daniel Negreanu has never been a stranger to playing competitive games. While growing up Toronto’s pool halls, he had dreams of becoming a pro snooker player, but gave up these aspirations once he was introduced to the game of poker. He was immediately intrigued, and it wasn’t long before Daniel moved to Las Vegas to pursue his new dream of becoming a professional poker player. The move turned out to be a smart one.

His earned the nickname ‘Kid Poker’ around the Vegas card rooms, but a run of impressive results proved that Daniel was the real deal, and he’s become one of the most respected, recognized and highest-earning poker players in the world since.

After a string of final table appearances and several wins in small events, Daniel’s breakthrough performance came at the 1998 World Series of Poker* in a $2,000 Pot Limit Hold’em event. After defeating a tough field that included many of the world’s top pros, Daniel pocketed $169,460 for the win, and, at only 23 years of age, became the youngest player at the time ever to win a WSOP* bracelet. There was no looking back for Kid Poker, and he began final tabling tournaments non-stop over the next few years. In 2002, he came close to winning another WSOP* bracelet when he finished 2nd in a $5,000 Omaha Hi/Lo event, but returned in 2003 and emerged victorious in a $2,000 S.H.O.E. event. Daniel’s third bracelet win came the following year in a $2,000 Limit Hold’em tournament for $169,000, and in 2008 the poker superstar cashed several times before finally winning a fourth WSOP* title in another $2,000 Limit Hold’em event, this time good for $204,863. That same year, Daniel played in the World Series of Poker* Europe and earned $395,024 after defeating a tough field to finishing 5th. Daniel then had another incredible run at the World Series in 2009, cashing more times than any other player, including a runner-up finish for $788,618 at the WSOP*E* Main Event in London.

Daniel has also made a name for himself on the World Poker Tour, with an incredible list of cashes and titles. Standout performances include victories at both the Borgata Poker Open for $1,117,400 and the Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $1,770,218, both in 2004. Other major tournament highlights include a $755,525 win at a WSOP* Circuit Event in 2006, and a 2nd place finish in a $100,000 buy-in Super High Roller event in The Bahamas, held as part of the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA).
