New York’s Chad Brown originally had his sights set on becoming a Hollywood actor, and bagged a run of film and TV roles in the early 90s. The big break never came however, and instead, Chad used the card skills he learned back home in the Bronx to grind out a living at the tables. It soon became clear he could make far more money at poker than in the movie business, and he’s been a pro ever since.
Chad had established himself on the pro circuit by 1992 with consistent cash finishes, including a 3rd place in an Omaha event at the WSOP*. It was to be the start of a long list of World Series cashes and near-misses that still shows no sign of letting up. Highlights include runner-up finishes in a 2004 $1,500 Stud event, a 2005 $2,000 Stud event and a 2009 $5,000 2-7 Draw tournament, plus top five finishes in events in 2005, 2007 and 2009. It’s heartbreaking to come close so many times and still not have a bracelet, but his WSOP* cashes have still seen him rake in over a million dollars, and that elusive win is surely on its way.
He has also performed well at events on the World Poker Tour, with several money finishes and final tables, including two in 2006. First he finished 6th at the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Stars event for $200,000, followed just a month later by a 9th place at the WPT Championship for $205,040. Other major cashes elsewhere include 5th place at EPT London in 2006 for $110,345, and 2nd place at the 2007 National Heads-Up Championship for $250,000. Chad is also a regular fixture in the biggest tournaments online at PokerStars, and cemented his reputation as a mixed-game specialist with a $223,150 win in a HORSE event held as part of the 2006 World Championship of Online Poker
In his spare time Chad likes watching and playing baseball, and also sometimes commentates on poker TV shows. He resides in Vancouver, Canada, with his wife, fellow Team Pro Vanessa Rousso, and plays online under the name ‘ChadBrownPRO’.
