HORSE
TH.O.R.S.E is a mixed game, with each letter referring to the following poker variants:
- Hold'em
- Omaha Hi/Lo
- Razz
- Stud
- Eight-or-better (Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo)
The background of HORSE
Since its introduction as a $50,000 buy-in event at the World Series, HORSE has grown in popularity, especially among high stakes players. It's often seen as a true test of poker ability, because players need to be equally skilled at several different poker games.
PokerStars players can also play HOSE, which is the same as HORSE but without Razz.
Game Play
HORSE involves playing one orbit of each game, before moving on to the next. It's played with a maximum of eight players, meaning that a round never lasts for more than eight hands. The games are rotated as follows: Hold'em, Omaha hi/lo, Razz, Seven Card Stud and Seven Card Stud hi/lo. When the Seven Card Stud hi/lo round ends, the game goes back to Hold'em, and the sequence starts again. The game currently being played is displayed at the top of the table window.
Please note that when moving from Omaha hi/lo to Razz; the dealer button is frozen, so that when the game switches back to Hold'em, no one can skip paying the blinds or end up paying more blinds than they should.
Regardless of which variant is being played, HORSE is always played as fixed limit (pot-limit or no-limit HORSE games are not available).
