Belgian Poker Series

The Belgian Poker Series (BPS) includes local tournaments across the region, with PokerStars qualifiers and the best players from around Europe taking their shot at a title and a share of each cash prize pool.

LATEST NEWS: BPS satellites are not currently running, following the end of Season 1. Look out for Season 2 qualifiers in the PokerStars game client, by selecting ‘Events’ & ‘Special’.

Congratulations to Michael Gathy of Belgium, who was crowned Belgian Poker Series Grand Final Champion in Namur after nine days of intense poker action. A big field of 538 players contested the Main Event, and Gathy beat Frenchman Pascal Junkar in the heads-up battle to claim €175,000 in first place prize money. In all, 80 players shared a total prize pool of €749,972.

Earlier in 2011, the first-ever BPS event was won by local player Glenn De Backer, who took victory plus a cheque for €70,000. The player field of 576 included runners from six different countries, who combined to create an impressive €411,898 prize pool, with the top 80 all walking away with cash.

The second event of Season 1 took place in Blankenberge, and the Main Event attracted 400 players to the tables who battled for a prize pool just short of €300,000. Dutch player Danny Latten was crowned champion, when his K-9 hit a 9 on the river to beat the bottom pair of Belgian heads-up opponent Christiaan Vanzieleghem.
