The Latin American Poker Tour!
Following in the footsteps of the phenomenally successful European Poker Tour and Asia Pacific Poker Tour, the LAPT will see some of the biggest names in the game play for huge sums of cash in the continent’s most exotic locations. Season 1 will be making stops in Brazil, Costa Rica and Uruguay.
In the space of just a few years, the EPT has become Europe’s leading tour, generating multi-million dollar prize pools. The APPT meanwhile marked the first time many of the nations it visited had ever hosted a poker tournament.
Poker is becoming increasingly popular in Latin America and LAPT Season 1 will be the richest tour ever held in the region. It will give players from places like Brazil and Argentina the chance to play against members of Team PokerStars Pro, including Brazilian Andre Akkari and Costa Rican legend Humberto Brenes. With so much money at stake and this many exciting venues, LAPT Season 1 is not to be missed.
This page will be updated with results from all LAPT events, so check back soon. You can also keep track of news from all LAPT tournaments by visiting the PokerStars Blog.
Season 1 - Results so Far
The first ever PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour event was won by 19-year-old Dutch player Julien Nuijten. Holding a significant chip stack for much of the tournament, Nuijten beat a final table that included a total of five PokerStars qualifiers. The deciding hand came on a flop of 7-7-Q, with Nuijten hitting trip 7’s, dominating runner-up Vitaly Kovyazin’s top pair. The victory earned Nuijten $222,940 and a place in poker history.
